About Us

The American Legion, the nation's largest veterans organization, stands on four pillars: National Security, Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, Americanism, and Children & Youth. One of our core values, as stated in the preamble to our constitution, is to "preserve the memories and incidents of our associations in all wars". This series of books aligns with that core value. Putnam's Mayotte-Viens Post #13 is publishing these books, which are being written by Post Commander Michael J. Rocchetti - a retired USAF Colonel and Iraq War Veteran.

The Mayotte-Viens Post 13 was established in 1919, shortly after the First World War ended in 1918. The Post is named after 1st Lieutenant Anselm Mayotte (an Army Chaplain who died of pneumonia in France during WW1), and Private George Viens, (a Marine who was killed-in-action at Guadalcanal during WWII).

The proceeds from the book sales will fund Post #13's programs, which directly benefit our local community, such as our veterans-in-need fund, our local Americanism initiatives, Boy's State, Girl's State, Scholarships, State Police Youth Academy, and the Tri-Town American Legion Baseball Team.

If you would like to nominate a family member, who is a veteran from Northeast CT, for a future edition of this series, please feel free to contact us.
